LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH
"DeKooning once stated that ‘flesh was the reason oil paint was invented,’ I have taken this idea one stage further through exaggerating the inherent characteristics of the pigment contrasted with the shimmering light of electronic screens, creating new hybrid forms. Essentially I imagine these paintings as being created by Van Gogh if he was somehow resurrected in the form of a cyborg. Long live the new flesh." Gareth Haynes 08
