I am interested in developing this area of the site as an exhibition arena for artists to present works that explore the idea of "The virtual gallery". This space is available to any artist at what ever stage of their career who has an interesting idea which they want to present. This may include net art, but could equally be video, sound, painting, sculpture, writing, performance, etc. I would like to present 4 shows a year in the first instance, expanding if there is enough interest and time to develop ideas and my programing skills.

Without the traditional restrictions of a physical space the online gallery can expand and adapt in any direction that the mind can imagine. With this freedom comes restrictions from the lack of physicality. As an artist I am fascinated with exploring these strengths and weaknesses in relation to my own practise, whilst working with and learning from artists who have similar intrests. Taking my work into and out of the digital arena will alter my understanding of physicality, the relationship to the viewer and the cultural metaphors of the virtual medium.

There are many possibilities for this area, from exhibiting work to curating shows and reviewing, the only restriction is that it will not be a selling space. If you are interested in contributing to any aspects of the virtual gallery or have suggestions please get in touch.
